Our Story
Your Accountant was founded in 2011 by Chris Schutte, a passionate accountant and entrepreneur with a vision to simplify business finance through innovation and integrity. After completing his five-year articles with a mid-sized audit firm in January 2010, Chris joined a group of four companies employing over 500 staff, where he served as Financial Manager.
During this time, he developed extensive management accounting systems and reporting packs while working with Pastel Accounting. Driven by a desire to help individuals and small businesses achieve financial clarity, Chris started
Your Accountant from his living room in 2011. What began as a modest individual tax service quickly grew through word of mouth, thanks to his dedication, accuracy, and genuine care for his clients. That same year, Chris was admitted to SAIBA (South African Institute for Business Accountants).
On 27 June 2014, he achieved dual professional recognition, becoming a member of both SAIPA (South African Institute of Professional Accountants) and SAIT (South African Institute of Taxation). He also qualified to establish Your Accountant as a SAIPA-accredited training institute, mentoring the next generation of accountants and tax professionals.
Our Evolution
In 2021, Chris and his team embarked on a journey to go fully digital — transitioning the firm into a cloud-based accounting practice. Through strategic implementation of Xero Accounting and other cloud technologies, Your Accountant has transformed how SMEs manage their finances — from automation of routine processes to delivering real-time business intelligence dashboards.
