SARS Registrations & APN Submissions South Africa | Your Accountant®
🏛️ SARS Registrations

SARS Registrations & Submissions — Registered Correctly From the Start

Before your business can trade fully, you need to be correctly registered with SARS. Get your registrations wrong and you face penalties, compliance failures, and trading restrictions. Get them right and you operate with confidence — fully compliant from day one.

Company Income Tax Registration

Every registered company in South Africa must register for income tax with SARS. This registration gives your company a tax reference number — required for filing tax returns, applying for tax clearance certificates, and conducting certain business activities. We submit the IT77C registration on your behalf, typically within days of your company being registered with CIPC.

PAYE Registration — As Soon as You Employ Staff

The moment you hire your first employee — full-time, part-time, or fixed-term — you are required to register as an employer with SARS for PAYE (Pay As You Earn), UIF (Unemployment Insurance Fund), and SDL (Skills Development Levy).

We handle the full PAYE registration process and then manage all your monthly EMP201 submissions — ensuring your PAYE, UIF and SDL are correctly calculated, submitted, and paid to SARS by the 7th of each month.

  • Employer registration for PAYE, UIF and SDL
  • Monthly EMP201 submission and payment
  • Annual EMP501 employer reconciliation
  • IRP5 and IT3(a) preparation for all employees

APN Submissions — Imports and Exports

If your business makes advance payments to foreign suppliers for imported goods or services, SARS requires an Advance Payment Notification (APN) before your bank can process the international payment. Without an approved APN, your bank will refuse the transaction — potentially delaying your supply chain and damaging supplier relationships.

We submit all APNs through SARS eFiling for our importing and exporting clients — handling the documentation, liaising with SARS on any queries, and providing your bank with the approved reference to authorise payment.

🌍 VAT Registration

VAT registration is compulsory once your turnover exceeds R1 million. We facilitate VAT registrations through our trusted outsource partners, ensuring the application is submitted correctly and your VAT compliance is properly structured from the start.

Getting your SARS registrations right from the very beginning is one of the best investments a new business can make. It costs nothing to do it correctly — and a great deal to fix it when it goes wrong.

Frequently Asked Questions

When must I register for PAYE?
You must register for PAYE as soon as you employ your first staff member and their remuneration exceeds the tax threshold. We advise on the threshold and register you with SARS immediately.
What is an APN and who needs one?
An Advance Payment Notification is required when your business makes a foreign currency payment to a non-resident party before goods are received or services are rendered. Your bank cannot process the payment without SARS approval. We submit APNs through eFiling on your behalf.
Do you handle VAT returns?
VAT registrations are facilitated through our trusted outsource partners. Once registered, your VAT returns are managed as part of our full tax compliance service — submitted every two months, accurately and on time.
